Since Joe was my senior when we were in Air Force School together, I was quite fortunate to have someone who constantly gave me guidance and tips on the course. Which is why I am not the least surprised when he told me recently that he clinched the Sword of Honor during his commissioning parade this year. It is actually quite rare for a pilot trainee to win the Sword of Honor and the fact that he managed to win it speaks volumes of his ability.
